Dakwakada and Dinner
December 9 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
We’ve twisted the Gingerbread House tradition Yukon-style into the Holiday Dakwakada tradition. Transportation across this Yukon landscape requires reliable supplies. From time immemorial to the present day, a high cache functions as a place to keep your supplies safe and dry.
Imagine the feeling as you walk up to your high cache on a cold winter day. Pride. You may have built it, you certainly cared for it. You worked hard and planned ahead.
Knowing what you need is caring for yourself.
Join YTM and Da Kų Cultural Centre to craft your own cookie and candy High Cache (Dakwakada).
4:00 – Making the Base
5:00 – Stew and Bannock Dinner (while the icing hardens)
5:30 – Adding the Top and Fancy Decorating
A second Dakwakada & Dinner takes place from 4-6 on December 17th at the Da Kų Cultural Centre in Haines Junction.
