In cooperation with our friends at Copperbelt Railway & Mining Museum, we are pleased to be part of four weeks of energetic, educational and entertaining camps this summer for campers ages 6-12.
Camps at the Copperbelt are available for early-bird registration for just $175/week and include crafts, activities, outdoor fun and cultural experiences with some of the best camp staff in the Yukon!

August 1-5, 2016: JUNIOR PROSPECTOR CAMP
Learn about the fascinating world of rocks and minerals, explore the Copperbelt Region on hikes and adventures, and understand the history of local mining and exploration. With special out trips to Miles Canyon to learn about geological formation, to the Yukon Transportation Museum to learn about mining infrastructure and the transportation of equipment and materials, and for a tour of the Yukon Chamber of Mines.

August 8-12, 2016: TRANSPORTATION AND INNOVATION CAMP
The past, present and future of transportation is what this camp is all about. Hop on local transportation and explore the ways that our community ‘gets around.’ Featuring a very special day at the Yukon Transportation Museum learning about transportation innovation and technology, this camp will introduce concepts relating to emerging green technology in transportation while telling the stories of how and what we moved in the past. This camp also includes our popular ‘build a railway’ program, which provides hands-on experience to campers on railway maintenance.

August 16-19, 2016: ENVIRONMENT CAMP
Food, plants, animals, the land and the earth are the focus of our 2016 Environment Camp. Campers will learn about and participate in our gardening exhibit, and enjoy visits from special guests who will provide activities and lessons about food sustainability in the north, organic food growth and healthy eating, edible wild plants and our relationship with earth. This camp will also include a trip to the Yukon Transportation Museum to learn about alternative energy, and a visit to the Yukon Wildlife Preserve.

August 22-26, 2016: CULTURAL CAREERS CAMP
What happens behind the scenes at our local museums, cultural centres and arts organizations? This camp will tell you all about it. From learning about how we care for artefacts, to projects relating to exhibition design, this camp will demonstrate what careers in culture look like. With plenty of out-door activities, trips to the Yukon Transportation Museum and the Old Log Church Museum, and a backstage tour of the Yukon Arts Centre. Visits from people working in arts and culture will demonstrate the fun and adventure of creative hobbies and careers to campers.
